Barbican Quartet wins 1st prize at the 71st ARD International String Quartet Competition!

The Barbican Quartet took first prize at the 71st ARD International String Quartet Competition, with its performance of Bartók String Quartet no.2 and Beethoven op.59 no.2. The quartet wins a cash prize of €24,000, as well as the prize for performance of the commissioned piece by Dobrinka Tabakova, worth €1,000.

The quartet was also awarded the Henle Urtext Prize, the Gewa prize and the Genuin Classics prize which is the production and release of a CD on the label.

The Barbicans also receive a prize winners tour in Europe, organized by Impresariat Simmenauer to be held in March 2023.
